How to enable Google Chrome notifications on Windows

Written by Divan

Ring.io uses Google Chrome to show incoming call and message notifications. If Windows is blocking Chrome's notifications, you may miss calls while Ring.io is open in the background. Follow the steps below to make sure Chrome is allowed to show notifications.

Step 1: Open Notification settings

  1. Click the Start button and open Settings (or press Windows + I).

  2. Select System in the left-hand menu.

  3. Click Notifications.

Step 2: Turn on notifications for Google Chrome

  1. Scroll down the list of apps to Google Chrome.

  2. Make sure the toggle next to Google Chrome is set to On.

  3. Click the arrow (>) on the Google Chrome row to open its detailed settings.

Step 3: Configure Google Chrome's notification settings

  1. Confirm that Notifications is set to On at the top of the page.

  2. Make sure Show notification banners and Show notifications in notification center are both ticked.

  3. Under Priority of notifications in notification center, select Top. This keeps Ring.io notifications at the top of the notification center so they are not buried under other apps.

  4. Optional: leave Play a sound when a notification arrives on so you hear incoming alerts.

Tip: If notifications still don't appear, check that Do not disturb is turned off (Settings › System › Notifications) and that Ring.io is allowed to send notifications inside Chrome (click the icon to the left of the address bar on the Ring.io tab and set Notifications to Allow).
